*Unit failed and pulled out from Lam Rainbow 45XXi machine.
*Reported failure was the power circuit breaker trips when turn on.
*Sketch own schematic at circuit breaker area. CB configured with shunt trip.
Studied and checked all the components involve.
*Found one transistor shorted (based to collector).
*No more circuit breaker trip after transistor is replaced.
*BUT the unit display doesn't turn on (a bonus failure).
*Removed the display control boards and troubleshoot.
*Tried to power-up the boards separately using external dc supply 11V0.
*Found 5V regulator LM2575 voltage output was only 1V2.
*Further troubleshooting discovered a programmable IC got shorted pins Vcc to gnd.
*Copied the firmware from good unit. Purchased and reprogrammed a blank IC
using the good firmware.
*Walla! the controller is now restored up and running.
*Saved USD 5K!
Shorted GAL16V8D-25QP (Vcc and Gnd)
